Madrid (EFE) economic proposal, and to that end they will continue negotiating on Wednesday afternoon.
After a first offer last week of 44.5 million euros for salary improvements in the judicial and fiscal careers, in the second round this Monday the Government has increased its proposal. The representatives of the associations have not wanted to give figures, but sources close to the negotiation still consider it insufficient.
“It is not our desire or desire to go on strike,” the president of the Association of Prosecutors, Cristina Dexeus, assured the media, who has trusted the “responsibility of the ministries” represented in the negotiation, that of Justice and that of the Treasury and Public Function, so that they “contribute enough to avoid going on strike.”
The indefinite strike of judges and prosecutors is “the last resort”
The indefinite strike is “the last resort” for the spokesman of the Professional Association of the Magistracy, Juan José Carbonero, who has assessed upon entering the meeting that the proposal they received last Wednesday is insufficient and “is not acceptable” for Her organization.
“There are no closed proposals. There is talk of figures (…) and other issues and everything is open. What could be understood to be improving on one side could perhaps get worse on the other, ”he added at the end of the meeting.
Thus, he has qualified that the object of the table “is not so much a monetary or quantitative question mainly”, but that it addresses “a problem of remuneration structure” of the judicial and fiscal careers, for which reason he is talking about both quantities and the way in which they will be distributed.
Other demands, such as the expansion of the judicial plant, “are made continuously and take another channel” and are not being debated at the compensation table.
Asked if they would call off the strike before reaching an agreement if the negotiations continue, Carbonero has stated that everything is “possible”, although he has not ventured to estimate how long the dialogue with the Government may last.
Until Wednesday, new consultations will be made to the associates to find out their opinion on the offer.
Progress only in some aspects
The representatives of three of the seven associations of judges and prosecutors have explained that the talks are taking place “in a very institutional and very friendly tone”, and that the parties are making their “contributions”, with progress in some aspects and with others. more standing issues.
And they have agreed to remember that this is the first time that, since its creation in 2003, the remuneration table has met, the body provided for by the law regulating the remuneration system for judicial and fiscal careers, which must be convened every five years. .
“After twenty years we cannot solve this in a couple of sessions,” said Dexeus, who has shown “very little interest in going on strike.”
As provided for in said regulation, representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Finance participate in the negotiations, as well as the associations of judges and prosecutors, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and three members of the General Council of the Judiciary ( CGPJ).
If things continue the same on the 16th, that of judges and prosecutors would be the third strike so far this year in the administration of Justice, after that of the lawyers and the current one of the officials of the courts and tribunals.
It is called by all associations except the progressive Judges and Judges for Democracy and the Progressive Union of Prosecutors.
