Madrid (EFE) form has chances of winning the PSOE.
This was stated in an interview with the spokesman for the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) in the Congress of Deputies, Gabriel Rufián, in his program “La Fábrica 1931” via YouTube.
Iglesias believes that Yolanda Díaz has made her electoral conjectures taking as an example what happened with the leader of Más Madrid in the Community of Madrid, Mónica García, who in the past regional elections put herself ahead of the Socialists.
Or also what happened with Manuela Carmena in the 2019 municipal elections when, at the head of the Más Madrid list and without Podemos, she was the most voted candidacy even though she failed to revalidate the mayoralty of the capital for the sum of PP, Cs and Vox.
“She calculates that what has happened with Mónica García or Manuela Carmena could happen at the state level. (Think), if I do the same, I may surpass the PSOE ”, explained the founder of Podemos to add immediately that, although he “applauds” his attitude of winning, it will not work for him.
The “style” of Yolanda Díaz
Iglesias has boasted of the style of Podemos, a party that says things that no one dares to say, as he has pointed out, compared to the “style” of Yolanda Díaz, which is more about hiding “so as not to get into gardens.”
“His style is not ours, Sumar’s way is different. They are two projects that have different ways of speaking to society”, according to Iglesias, and as a consequence it has generated “a struggle for power” in the entire space to the left of the PSOE.
In this context of strong disagreements between Podemos and Sumar, who still have not reached an agreement to go to the general elections together, Iglesias has also criticized Díaz for not wanting to talk about lists.
“When we tell people that the lists and the armchairs are not important, that is to say something that people want to hear, but it is not serious, you have to tell them the truth (…) I have been murdered for saying that we want power, that’s what politics is about ”, he denounced.
During his conversation with Rufián, he also spoke about the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, whom he has defined as a “political killer”, highlighting his ability to “recover” and integrate colleagues who have raised discrepancies within the party.
“I envy the PSOE who bitches and then recover and say come on,” Iglesias assessed in the interview, which was recorded at the Soho Club Theater in Madrid with the presence of the public.
