Logroño, May 7 (EFE).- Some 2,000 people dressed in orange vests demonstrated this Sunday through the streets of Logroño to protest, at the blow of trumpets and cowbells, against “the animal and anti-hunting policies that the different governments of this country”.
This was stated by the president of the Royal Spanish Hunting Federation (RFEC), Manuel Gallardo, in an informative meeting prior to the start of this demonstration, in which the president of the Riojan Hunting Federation, Eduardo Cornejo, also participated.
“Hunting is conservation” is one of the large banners that have been seen along with numerous La Rioja flags during this demonstration, which has started from the fountain of the Illustrious Riojans of the La Rioja capital and traveled the Gran Vía of Logroño to conclude in the Plaza del Espolón, where a manifesto in favor of hunting has been read.
Gallardo explained that the La Rioja Animal Protection Law is “the worst regulation of this type that exists in the country, and probably the worst in Europe and the world, since it tries to protect animals by castrating them” .
He has criticized that the Government of La Rioja, “perhaps, has not understood that the hunting sector has a voice and has become a social agent of the first order that, therefore, has to participate in public life and in the decisions made by the parties, not only in Spain, but also in the autonomous communities”.
Hunting, he continued, is “a sector that is of vital importance in the rural world and that is essential for conservation, the management of biodiversity and animal-transmitted diseases, and for road safety and protection against fires”.
“From here, make an appeal to all the political parties that are presenting themselves in the regional and municipal elections on the 28th to attend to the demands of the hunting sector because, if this is not the case, we will undoubtedly raise mobilizations again”, has had an impact .
The manifesto read at the end of the protest has claimed “the defense and institutional promotion of hunting as a natural and sustainable use and an activity that contributes to environmental conservation, as well as social and economic development, specifically in rural areas.
