Oviedo/Avilés (EFE).- The Civil Guard is investigating a group sexual assault reported by a minor that occurred in the vicinity of the Trasona reservoir, in the Asturian council of Corvera, sources close to the investigation confirmed to EFE on Tuesday.
The attack would have occurred yesterday during the celebration of the Jira de Trasona, a popular festival that brings together thousands of people every year for a picnic with music and open-air festivals.
From the Civil Guard Command in Asturias they have pointed out that the investigation began after learning of the complaint at around 8:00 p.m. and there are still no people identified as the alleged perpetrators.
Sources close to the investigation have reported that the minor went to the ‘Punto Lila’ installed in the area, where she reported having suffered an assault at the hands of several young people, which led to the activation of the protocol for sexual assault.
After giving notice of what happened to the Civil Guard, who has evaded giving details of the complaint, the minor was transferred to the San Agustín de Avilés Hospital to carry out the corresponding examination.
The mayor of Corvera, Iván Fernández, has expressed his resounding condemnation of what happened at a party that has accumulated a history of more than fifty years of “good coexistence.”
The councilor has valued that the ‘Punto Lila’ fulfilled its function by serving as a space for refuge and rapid intervention.
According to the newspaper El Comercio on Tuesday, the minor would have suffered the attack at the hands of at least four young people. EFE
