Madrid (EFE).- Blanca Paloma has officially lifted the flight this Thursday towards the final of Eurovision 2023 as the representative of Spain with a farewell ceremony organized in the center of Madrid by RTVE, open to fans of the festival and to the shout of “Let’s go there the White Dove!”.
Without yet revealing the name of the designer who will dress her in the European contest in Liverpool, the artist from Elche has appeared in white with two different models, one of them with feathers honoring her name to promote her candidate theme, “Ea Ea” , currently positioned in the “top 5” of bookmakers.
It remains to be seen if she will achieve the difficult mission of surpassing or equaling the third place achieved by her predecessor, Chanel, who has melted into a hug with her on the same stage where a year ago she starred in a similar act.
“I am living a ‘deja vu’ and I am closing the cycle beautifully with all this love. Thank you very much for this year of incredible support. Now it’s your turn, friend, who has the tenacity, the talent and the focus”, she told him after asking her to “fall in love with the whole world”.
This farewell act to Blanca Paloma (who will not take her plane to Liverpool until May 3) has coincided with the presentation and announcement of the launch this midnight of “Plumas de nácar”, the other theme that she presented at Benidorm Fest 2023 for to pass the cut of participants.
Many of her colleagues and rivals in that national shortlist for the festival have wanted to be with her: José Otero, E’femme, Famous, Twin Melody, Aritz Arén or the band Megara, who have assured that they will perform again to achieve their goal of represent Spain in Europe.
Among the illustrious guests, another emblematic ex-representative, Beth, on the 20th anniversary of her participation in Eurovision with “Dime”, a song chosen by the public at the time and which was never entirely to her liking.
“I’m much more fond of it now”, the Catalan has acknowledged after a long “healing” process of reconciliation with the song -eighth in its edition- which has been included in a documentary also presented this Thursday, an occasion that she has taken advantage of to reinterpret it in acoustic key.
Blanca Paloma has been recommended to enjoy and try to ignore the “external noise” generated by the festival, especially now with social networks. “And people who say what they have to say, that you are very talented,” she has advised him.
“We must be tremendously proud of Blanca, of her team, of her human quality and her professional quality,” stressed Eva Mora, head of the Spanish delegation, excited to see one of her dreams come true: that a song “risky” with a flamenco base represents Spain.
Julia Varela and Tony Aguilar were also present at the event, who will repeat another year as official commentators for RTVE both in the semifinals on May 9 and 11 and in the final on May 13, all of them on La 1, where at its end a program presented by Aitor Albizu will be broadcast.
As part of the special coverage to follow the festival, a program presented by Jordi Cruz and Xuso Jones, “La pichoneta”, will begin to be broadcast via the web from May 7, a “food truck” that will be planted in the streets of Liverpool to follow the Eurovision week news.
