Beijing/Kiev (EFE).- The Chinese president, Xi Jinping, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelenski, held their first conversation today since the start of the Russian invasion, in February 2022.
It has been a “long and significant” telephone conversation, as revealed by the Ukrainian president on his Twitter account.
“I had a long and significant phone call with President Xi Jinping. I believe that this call, as well as the appointment of the Ukrainian ambassador to China, will give a powerful impetus to the development of our bilateral relations, ”Zelensky wrote on his social network.
Despite China’s insistence that it maintains a neutral position in the conflict, President Xi had not spoken with Zelensky since the beginning of the conflict, but he has spoken on several occasions with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
