The jury in charge of deciding on the award has praised the “honesty and responsibility” of Streep -the actress most times nominated for the Oscars and the Golden Globes in history- when selecting her works and her contribution to “dignify the art of interpretation.
His candidacy, proposed by the filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar, who was awarded the same award in 2006, has received the unanimous support of a jury that has also highlighted his civic awareness and his activist role, having championed various social causes in recent decades.
