Valencia (EFE).- The regional financing has focused the political demands of this April 25, Day of Les Corts Valencianes, along with other issues such as Valencian civil law, water or self-government itself.
This is how the different political representatives have raised it during the celebration of the institutional act of Les Corts Day, the last of this legislature and in which the Parliament workers who have retired in the last four years have been recognized.
The event was attended by the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and his government, as well as numerous political representatives and Valencian society.
The president of Les Corts, Enric Morera, has demanded “financing to govern and to legislate” and “to practice our autonomy and self-government”, a commitment that, as he has defended, “we have to take each and everyone, wherever each one is ”.
After taking stock of the legislature and highlighting that “such a high degree of coordination and unitary defense of the Valencian agenda” had not been achieved for many years, he has claimed “economic and political stability”, as well as the will to “agree on the solution Valencian”.
“These Corts cannot be a place to produce political marketing products in the political and partisan struggle”, he has stated, and has considered that responsibility has to preside over the activity of the Chamber, at the same time that he has criticized that they occupy this space “ people who think about their destruction or elimination”.
Morera has warned that “we are risking our self-government”, since the historical debt of this autonomy “threatens the survival of the Generalitat, the sustainability of essential public services, and our rights and freedoms as a people”.
Demands of parliamentary groups
The parliamentary groups have also claimed better regional financing for the Valencian Community, among other issues.
The socialist trustee, Ana Barceló, has done so, who has also called for “fair taxation” in which “whoever else has more contribution”, and has defended “coexistence” and dialogue “as fundamental.
The Compromís candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, Joan Baldoví, has also done so, for whom fair financing allows for “stronger self-government”, while at the same time vindicating Valencian civil law.
Baldoví has also advanced that if he is president of the Generalitat he will propose a reform of the Statute of Autonomy to include new rights, such as housing; expand powers, and shield public health.
The deputy spokesperson for Unides Podem, Estefanía Blanes, has called for “more self-government, more financing, and infrastructures and investments adjusted to the population.”
From the opposition, the union of the PP, María José Catalá, has said that they face this day as the “final touch” of a legislature, in which, in her opinion, “too many things are pending”, such as regional financing, civil law, water or the reinforcement of self-government institutions.
From Ciudadanos, the trustee, Mamen Peris, has claimed the necessary financing, the Mediterranean Corridor and water for Alicante, and has advocated that the Community be “the European Silicon Valley” and be an autonomy “completely free of corruption”.
Vox has declined to make statements because “it does not ask for more autonomy or more self-government”, although it has been represented at the event by the deputy Ángeles Criado.
legislature balance
During the act, the senior lawyer of Les Corts, Francisco J. Visiedo, took stock of a “very unique” legislature due to the pandemic, but in which, as he highlighted, parliamentary activity has been similar to other legislatures, despite the two years of hiatus as a result of the covid.
He has highlighted that in the last four years 30 laws and more than 60 decree laws have been approved; 228 questions of general interest to the President of the Generalitat have been registered; almost 15,000 questions to the Consell, 2,100 non-legal proposals, and 14,000 requests for data and administrative documents.
