Bilbao (EFE).- The Italian restaurant franchise whose premises caught fire in Madrid last Friday has removed the decoration from the one in Bilbao.
The company operators have dismantled this Tuesday the artificial decoration similar to the one that burned in Madrid, causing the death of two people, a 25-year-old waiter and a 43-year-old nurse from Biscay, and wounding ten others, eight of whom They are still hospitalized today.
The Scientific Police of the National Police is investigating whether the materials that made up the restaurant’s decoration accelerated the spread of flames through the premises, in which dozens of diners and workers were trapped until they were rescued by firefighters.
The artificial plants that covered a large part of the ceiling and walls of the Italian gastronomy restaurant Burro Canaglia Bar & Resto were held by a wire mesh that, as a result of the flames, fell to an extreme temperature on the tables and the floor of the premises, leaving without escape for those affected, sources of the investigation informed EFE.
