Vigo, Apr 23 (EFE).- The emeritus king left the town of Sanxenxo in Pontevedra this Sunday afternoon and went to the Vigo airport.
Everything was prepared at the Vigo airport for the departure of Juan Carlos I from this autonomous community, a destination where he arrived from London last Wednesday to participate in the Volvo Autesa Cup sailing championship, which was held this weekend in the Real Club Nautico de Sanxenxo.
Although the king trained on board the Bribón, both on Thursday and Friday, he was finally unable to participate in the regatta due to adverse weather conditions.
The strong wind and the swell prevented him from participating in the two races of the regatta on Saturday, a situation that has been repeated this Sunday, so the Bribón has sailed without Juan Carlos I as skipper, who has been replaced by Jane Abascal.
Juan Carlos I has arrived a few minutes after 7:00 p.m. this Sunday at the Foronda airport in Vitoria. It is not the first time that the king emeritus visits the capital of Álava, where he has previously visited for personal reasons related to medical issues.
