José Manuel Bermúdez has presented a plan for his party’s government program to combat the loneliness of the elderly in the capital of Tenerife with the creation of five day centers, one for each district, and a co-housing project, in which share services.
The candidate has insisted that the city has suffered mistreatment by the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands, and has assured that the data on dependency, health and socio-sanitary matters are “demoralizing”.
José Manuel Bermúdez has said that after the return to the municipal government, the largest catalog of social benefits in the Canary Islands has been available, and the problem of dependency has been responded to from the powers of the corporation, with a home assistance service that attends to 2,000 people.
He has also highlighted that certain aid to vulnerable families has been increased which, in the past year, in terms of food exceeded 8 million euros.
The candidate has affirmed that his party’s social services policy is not only welfare in nature, but is also about creating employment.
He has recognized that to start up the new day centers the collaboration of other administrations will be necessary. EFE
