Murcia (EFE).- The Physical Education teacher arrested for sexually assaulting several students at the “Prado Mayor” Secondary Education Institute in the Murcian town of Totana, Juan Ignacio BC, has gone to court this morning.
The 46-year-old detainee with no criminal record left in a police vehicle from the Totana Civil Guard Command garage around 10 am, escorted by several agents, to the local courts, where he must give a statement. before the judge.
The arrest occurred yesterday morning, Monday, after an investigation carried out by the Civil Guard, upon having indications that several students from the “Prado Mayor” Secondary Education Institute in Totana had been victims of sexual assaults by a teacher.
According to sources from the educational center, Juan Ignacio BC has been on sick leave for practically the entire course and joined the institute a couple of weeks before Easter, where he is head of the Physical Education department and where he has been working for more than five years. years.
Sources close to the investigation have indicated that the events reported occurred between 2018 and 2023.
There are no previous complaints or complaints
For its part, the Murcia Ministry of Education has explained that a file has been opened on what happened after learning of the teacher’s arrest, and that “it is waiting for the actions of the authority that has received the complaint, which is taking carry out the investigation”.
“The Ministry has no prior record of complaints or complaints, neither from the center nor from the educational community,” according to the sources, who have added that the Educational Inspectorate has launched an investigation after learning of the teacher’s detention from the center.
The Minister of Education of Murcia, Víctor Marín, has contacted the heads of the institute to make the Occupational Risk Prevention Service and the Coexistence Observatory available to them, in order to meet the needs and provide support to the management team, the faculty and the educational community, the sources have indicated.
A guardian agent denounced the sexual assaults
The arrest was made possible by a complaint from a local police guardian agent after hearing the story of some of the victims.
As reported by the mayor of Totana, Pedro José Sánchez, the guardian agent -in a program of the city council and the Local Police- meets every week and in non-school afternoon hours with students in the sociocultural center “La Cárcel” to talk of their school coexistence problems or their family situation, among other aspects.
In one of those talks, one of the victims told the police officer that she had been sexually assaulted by her Physical Education teacher, and as a result, other minors reported similar events, for which the agent transferred the facts to the Civil Guard.
