Logroño, (EFE).- Javier Marca, president of the Superior Court of Justice of La Rioja (TSJR), on Monday called on the media to “be extremely prudent” in the information they publish about group sexual assault on two girls in Logroño, because the alleged aggressors are also minors.
The investigation of this matter, which occurred on Sunday, April 9, is a matter that corresponds to the juvenile prosecutor’s office and is subject to the juvenile judge, he said in an informative conference.
The events occurred in a storage room of a portal on Avenida de Navarra, where the two girls aged 12 and 13 were sexually assaulted, facts for which 5 minors between 14 and 17 years of age have been arrested as alleged perpetrators; while another 2 13-year-olds have remained under the guardianship of their parents.
This matter “is not the responsibility of the TSJR, unless there are dysfunctions of that court”, so that the juvenile judge is the one who has approved the precautionary measures proposed by the prosecution, he stressed.
“We all have to make an effort, because this is not a normal criminal process when it affects minors,” he stressed.
The president of the TSJR has insisted that the purpose of the agreed measures towards the alleged aggressors is, “rather than repression, protective and protective of minors, reform, resocialization and re-education”. EFE
