Vigo, Apr 16 (EFE).- The Portuguese Carlos Carvalhal, coach of Celta de Vigo, placed this Sunday the permanence in LaLiga at “41 or 42 points”, for that reason he warned of the risk of relaxing because they still need to add “many” points .
“There is a barrier of 40 points, but I think that this year some more will be needed because the teams at the top have not lost many points, so there is still a need to reach 41 or 42,” he commented in his appearance before the journalists.
The sky-blue coach expects a “difficult” match against an opponent “who closes well and comes out quickly on the counterattack”, which is why one of the keys to the duel, in his opinion, will be “efficiency” because Mallorca is not usually created “a lot of opportunities”.
“We are going to play at home, where we have a very strong force with the support of the fans. The players deserve that support and we hope that this makes a difference between two teams that, with different styles, are very similar”, he underlined.
Carvalhal confirmed that tomorrow they will do “a test” on Carles Pérez to find out if he can start playing after not training throughout the week with the group due to some discomfort, but at the same time he showed his confidence in the youth squad Miguel Rodríguez.
“Miguel did a good job in the last game and deserves our trust,” said the Celta coach, for whom Mallorca is a “very dangerous” rival beyond his strength from set pieces.
“Muriqi is a player who scores goals. I think we prepared well to stop their set pieces, but they are not only strong at that and we have to be focused. We try to let the players know what is going to happen with the rival and I think we are informing them well. But in football then anything can happen, ”he said.
