Casa Roja (Colombia) (EFE) a massive event in the plains of the Yarí, they will announce the date on which these dialogues will begin.
It is expected that on Sunday, after a week of meeting, the dissidence commanders who traveled from all over the country to define a common position regarding the peace proposal will announce, among other things, who their spokespersons will be and the exact date for the official installation of the dialogue table.
Define the path to the table
This was stated by alias “Andrey”, commander of the Magdalena Medio bloc of the dissidents of the 33rd front of the FARC, who added in statements to the press that his participation in the event that will take place tomorrow at the emblematic Red House is as ” guests”, not “hosts”, because the guerrillas did not organize it.
In this sense, their participation is to “respond to the concerns” of peasants, indigenous and Afro regarding the progress of peace that the Central General Staff is advancing with the Government.
“Tomorrow the communities are going to hold an event to which we were called to make some clarifications in reference to what has been working with the national government,” explained the guerrilla, who added that there are “much expectations” in the communities to find out the outcome of this week’s meeting of commanders.
In this meeting, which was “a success” in the words of the dissident, “some concerns that existed within the units were addressed in reference to the steps that (the Central General Staff, commanded by “Iván Mordisco”) were going to follow from here on in the face of rapprochement or exploratory dialogues with the Government”.
Despite the announcements that the guerrillas assure they will make tomorrow, the government avoids saying when the announcement will be made or more information about the process with the Central General Staff, which President Gustavo Petro announced a few weeks ago.
The peace process with the dissidence
The Central General Staff will make this Sunday the political declaration of its commitment to peace in front of the communities that “have experienced firsthand the consequences of the war in all the territories” and who “are concerned about the future”
“The experience of what happened in Havana will help us to carry out a peace process with more commitment, with more participation,” which is why we must make the most of the proposals and initiatives that “the peasant communities have expressed of the sector in the face of these dialogues”, according to “Andrey”.
The guerrilla commander insisted that his commitment to peace in Colombia “has always been firm”, but “the only thing” that “does not point to is the peace of the kneeling”: “peace can be made from the territories, but a peace with social justice and in that the Colombian people can have full confidence”.
For the Central General Staff, as transmitted by “Andrey”, the situation of the bilateral ceasefire with the Government -which both parties accuse each other of having violated- “can be unlocked with the installation of the monitoring and verification mechanism”, which is planned for April 26.
According to the latest figures on ceasefire violations from the Institute for Development and Peace Studies (Indepaz), the Central General Staff is the group that most violated the ceasefire, with more than 60 acts of violence against other groups and the civilian population.
Referring to the peace processes that the Government maintains with other armed groups, “Andrey” considered that “each organization has its own norms, its own rules of the game, and up to now we have been respectful of the processes that they are carrying out with the compañeros from the ELN or with the Segunda Marquetalia”.
