It also recalls that she is a virgin “to whom thousands of Catalans profess their devotion”, and asks her “as the highest representative of the institution that governs the aforementioned channel, to proceed, as soon as possible, to the restitution of the right to sullied honor , and adopt the measures so that an event of this nature does not happen again.
The Brotherhood of Almonte de la Virgen del Rocío asks TV3 for “the same respect that is given to other religious denominations”
The brotherhood asks for “the same respect that is given to other religious denominations”, and indicates that it is studying possible legal actions, “leading to safeguarding the right to honor violated by a misuse of the right to freedom of expression.”
In the program, broadcast last Tuesday, an actress dressed as the Virgen del Rocío appeared with a baby doll in her arms simulating the baby Jesus, with its presenters, Toni Soler and Jair Domínguez, ironizing that the virgin does not leave procession at Easter, as well as making jokes about his “sex life” and his Andalusian accent.
The satire on the image has provoked different reactions against it from Andalusia, including that of the president of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, who has considered that it is “a lack of respect for Andalusia”.
For her part, the spokeswoman for Adelante Andalucía, Teresa Rodríguez, believes that humor can be made out of everything, “also from Holy Week”, but not “with so much ‘badness’, ignorance and Andalusian phobia”, urging the screenwriters of the joke to imitate “the accent of your bloody ‘stop’, for being soft”.
On this same subject, the Bishop of the Diocese of Huelva, Santiago Gómez, has assured that freedom of expression “cannot offend religious beliefs, nor of Rociero Catholics”, and has emphasized that “the right to freedom of thought and expression, recognized in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, cannot imply the right to offend the religious feelings of believers, a principle that is obviously valid for any religion”.
Entities and Moreno demand an apology for the parody
The satire on the image of the Virgen del Rocío carried out in the TV3 program “Està passant” has provoked various reactions against it, such as that of the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, or that of the Federation of Andalusian Cultural Entities in Catalonia (FECAC), who have demanded “public apologies” from Catalan public television.
In the program, broadcast last Tuesday, an actress dressed as the Virgen del Rocío appeared with a baby doll in her arms simulating the baby Jesus, with its presenters, Toni Soler and Jair Domínguez, ironizing that the Virgin does not go out in procession during Week Santa, in addition to making jokes with his sex life and his Andalusian accent.
For Moreno, “humor is one of the hallmarks” of his land and he has remarked that “to be funny” you have to do it “with respect and affection.” She has described what was seen on the program as a lack of respect not only towards Andalusia but also towards Andalusians and their traditions.
“I hope that to ask for forgiveness they know how to do it better,” the Andalusian president wrote on his social networks this Saturday.
Meanwhile, the spokeswoman for the PP of Catalonia, Lorena Roldán, has advanced her intention to denounce this parody before a Parliament commission, since she understands that “offenses against Andalusians are an embarrassing constant on TV3” and for this reason they will denounce again “This new grievance in the audiovisual media commission.”
Teresa Rodríguez (Adelante Andalucía): You can make humor out of everything but not with “ignorance and Andalusian phobia”
For her part, the spokesperson for Adelante Andalucía, Teresa Rodríguez, has indicated that humor can be made out of everything, “also from Holy Week”, but not “with so much ‘badness’, ignorance and Andalusian phobia”.
The president of the FECAC, Daniel Salinero, has addressed the president of the Audiovisual Council of Catalonia (CAC), Xevi Xirgo, to demand that TV3 “restitute the honor of the Virgen del Rocío” and “public apologies” in the program.
The FECAC, organizer of the Rocío Pilgrimage in Catalonia, considers that the “mocking” of the Virgen del Rocío in “Està passant” was in “very bad taste” and “deserves the strongest rejection”.
The Mother Brotherhood of Almonte (Huelva) of the Virgen del Rocío has spoken in similar terms, which has addressed a letter to the president of the Catalan Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, in which he asks him to restore “the sullied honor” of the patron saint almonteña
On its official social networks, the brotherhood has reported that this Friday it directed “a letter of rejection and rejection” to Aragonès, with a copy of it to the Minister of Culture, Natalia Garriga, “for the gratuitous offenses poured out by the program”. in which “a parody in very poor taste of Rocío devotion and particularly of the Sacred Image” was made, to which “thousands of Catalans” also profess their devotion.

The director of the “Està passant” program on TV3, Toni Soler, has refused to apologize for a parody with the Virgen del Rocío broadcast last Tuesday in his satirical space, after being asked to do so by the president of the Andalusian Government, Juana Moreno, to whom he has replied: “You can wait sitting down.”
The satirical program “Està passant” on TV3, directed by the comedian Toni Soler, broadcast last Tuesday, April 4, a parody in the form of an “interview” with the actress Judit Martín, dressed as the Virgen del Rocío, with a doll in his hands pretending to be the baby Jesus.
During the parody, the actress complained, with a marked Andalusian accent, about the ostentatiousness of the suit: “I haven’t been able to get laid properly for 200 years!”, she said, before trying to flirt with one of the presenters of the program, Jair Domínguez, while Soler acknowledged that he did not know “what to say so as not to screw it up” with that topic: “We are in a minefield.”
