Zaragoza, Apr 8 (EFE).- Casademont Zaragoza came back from behind in the last seconds of the game that faced them against Gran Canaria and with the tight 76-73 victory they practically ensured their permanence, although not mathematically.
The Aragonese team, which throughout the second half trailed behind on the scoreboard and in feelings against the insular team, had the virtue of not throwing away the game or surrendering to the fact that each reaction was answered by their rival and that they never came to equalize.
However, his persistence was rewarded because with a run of 11-3 in the last three minutes and 17 seconds of the match, he ended up turning the score around and achieving a victory that is worth its weight in gold because the permanence seems practically done except for catastrophe.
The two teams played a balanced first half in which the scoreboard barely registered meager advantages for both because there was no one particularly inspired, as shown by the low success rates, both in two-point shots and especially in triples.
Only the Polish center Olek Balcerowski was successful in the minutes he played, being the best player in Gran Canaria and the game.
The greatest advantage in the first half was 5 points for the visitors (25-30) in the 15th minute, but the defensive improvement of the rojillo team compromised the insular attacks and they were able to reach the break again with the score even (35- 3. 4).
After the break, the success of the visitors’ three-pointers put them ahead (47-49) at minute 27 and from then on until the final moments, the islanders were always ahead.
However, Casademont Zaragoza knew that victory implied a jackpot and did not give up despite the fact that they never managed to catch up with their rival.
The good final defenses allowed them to take the lead with 18.3 seconds to go with two free throws by Santi Yusta (74-73) and although Gran Canaria had the option of turning the score around, Andrew Albicy’s shot did not go in and the victory was stayed in Zaragoza.
