Toledo (EFE).- The Secretary General of Podemos and Minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, Ione Belarra, has responded to the PSOE to “focus on governing” because there is “practically” a year left in the legislature and there are important issues pending such as the housing law, and added that “we aspire” to close the agreement between Podemos and Sumar.
In statements to journalists this Thursday before touring the ecological path of the Tagus River, in Toledo, Belarra has been asked about the words of Pedro Sánchez in which he was in favor of an understanding between Sumar and Podemos and has responded that the PSOE must concentrate on governing since “we cannot be doing electoralism all the time.”
“What you have to do is govern, approve this housing law, which is extremely urgent for the people of our country, and bump into that basic shopping basket once and for all,” he pointed out.
He has also stated that “it is evident” that the media “related” to the PSOE are going to tell Yolanda Díaz “that she can shoot alone, that she can shoot without Podemos”, in response to which he said that “we think we need a Podemos strong to revalidate the coalition government” and manage to be the first force in the government because “there are some changes that will not come until Podemos has the leadership of the Government”, he pointed out.
“Podemos has built more unity candidacies than ever”
Regarding Podemos and Sumar, Ione Belarra explained that Podemos has built more unity candidacies “than ever” for the upcoming municipal and regional elections in May, including Castilla-La Mancha and Valencia, which she has said is “a plaza key” for the elections.
“Now it’s up to Yolanda Díaz to decide if she also wants to be the unit’s candidate, it will be for us,” said Belarra, who added that Podemos “has a very well-proven service record” and has shown that it is they can build “wide, diverse, plural spaces, in which we all feel comfortable and well represented”.
The general secretary of Podemos has stressed that she aspires to a coalition agreement between Podemos and Sumar and “it is Yolanda who has to decide if she wants to be a unit candidate.”
“Page has been player 12 of PP and Vox against the coalition government”
On the other hand, he has said that the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has been part of the opposition to the coalition government, the “player number 12 in the PP and Vox team”, this legislature, something that It has been considered “very serious”.
In his opinion, this means that “only Podemos” will be able to represent the “advances” of the coalition government in the next elections.
Looking at the Tagus as an example, the minister stated that the river “has been the victim of the worst of bipartisanship” since, in her opinion, “the worst of the García-Page PSOE government and the worst of the PP of the Mrs. Ayuso”, as is the contamination and the “absolute abandonment”.
Reiterating what the United Podemos candidate for the Presidency of Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis García Gascón, had previously said, he pointed out that it is “fundamental” to ensure that the Tagus has its own legal personality but, above all, that “it is not done as Mr. García-Page and Mrs. Ayuso have done by allowing companies to run free and pollute the river without any kind of consequences”.
Ione Belarra has defended a “strong hand against these companies that pollute” and, in this sense, has considered it necessary to have “courage” to implement the measures, a courage that “requires having our hands free from commitment to the privileged and to the companies that They are doing what they want with the Tagus River”, he added.
He has also stated that Podemos is “the only credible force” and has indicated that as of May “we need a very strong Podemos in Castilla-La Mancha.”
For his part, García Gascón has said that “the only reason” for García-Page to “attack” the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, the coalition government and his own party is “that he is a pepero, as people say”.
He has detailed some measures of his program to protect the Tagus, including applying a tax to companies that pollute the river “legally or illegally” in Castilla-La Mancha or the Community of Madrid, about which he has said that Isabel Díaz Ayuso and Emiliano García-Page are “accomplices” in the continued contamination and “death” of the river.
The United Podemos candidate has advanced that if he is president he will launch a plan to reverse the public services and privatizations of the PP government of María Dolores de Cospedal which, he has said, have been maintained and “increased” with the García- Page. EFE
