Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (EFE).- The southeast of the island of Gran Canaria registered a temperature of 38.2 degrees Celsius on March 30, the highest measurement ever in Spain that month, the State Agency for Meteorology.
The record was recorded at the Tasarte weather station, in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás, within the extraordinary episode of high temperatures experienced in the Canary Islands this past Thursday and Friday.
Until now, the highest temperature measured in Spain in a month of March was 38 degrees Celsius in Xàtiva (Valencia) in 2001.
The Tasarte weather station had already recorded a new all-time high temperature for a month of March in the Canary Islands with 37.8 degrees measured at 2:20 p.m. on the 30th, one tenth more than the day before at 5:00 p.m., when pulverized the previous record, which had been in force since 1951, 72 years ago.
After two days of intense heat in the archipelago, temperatures have dropped and are beginning to be milder on all the islands. EFE
