Madrid (EFE).- The household savings rate stood at 7.2% of their gross disposable income in 2022, 6.6 points lower than that of 2021 and the lowest since 2018, in a year marked by the inflation crisis, according to data published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to the Non-Financial Quarterly Accounts of the Institutional Sectors, household disposable income increased by 3.6% in 2022, to 817,536 million euros, but final consumption spending increased by 11.5%, to 756,862 million , in a year marked by rising prices.
The gross savings generated -58,457 million, 46% less than in 2021- was insufficient to finance investment in the sector and households presented a financing need of 1,753 million in 2022 compared to the surplus of 57,636 million in 2021.
