The high temperatures of the last few days, with significant snowfall, is what has anticipated the end of the season, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism this Friday in a statement.
The facility opened for skiing on January 20 and the activity has been maintained for more than two months, since it has only been closed due to adverse weather conditions four of the 70 days of the season.
More than 1,700 daily skiers
The 2022-23 season has become the “most intense and productive” with an average of 1,755 skiers per day, compared to 1,075 skiers per day in the previous season and “well above” the historical average of 800.
This is one of the best sales balances for annual passes with 8,615 sold, only behind last year, which reached the figure of 9,610, and 62,647 day passes.
The Minister of Tourism, Javier López Marcano, has assured that these are “extraordinary” data and has stressed that they reveal that the pricing policy has brought more public to the station and, by extension, to the Campurriana region.
“Despite having been an unusual season, we have more than met our objectives”, stated the counselor, who highlighted the benefit that this entails for Campoo’s economy and the milestone of “socialising” the station, attracting more users both of Cantabria as well as neighboring communities.
Alto Campoo, which has been the last to close in the Cantabrian Mountains, will offer this weekend the tourist service of chairlift rides and does not rule out reopening in case of new snowfall.
