Logroño, (EFE).- The Government of La Rioja has presented this Thursday the La Rioja 2030 Regional Strategy for sustainable development, which will “consolidate equality and freedom for all, because you cannot have freedom if you do not have equality” and will allow “downloading the 2030 Agenda to the reality of this autonomous community”.
The Minister of Equality, Participation and the 2030 Agenda, Raquel Romero, explained it in an informative meeting prior to the presentation ceremony, in which the General Director of Cooperation and the 2030 Agenda, Tomás Castillo, also participated.
Romero stressed that “this 2030 Agenda no longer has that conception in which the most privileged countries told developing countries what they should or should not do, but involves everyone”.
“We have come to defend this 2030 Agenda because we know that in recent times there has been an extreme attack against the policies developed by the United Nations by the right wing that says what it thinks, as well as by the right wing that thinks what it says, and it is a job that, here in La Rioja, civil society has been doing for a long time”, he stressed.
This strategy, he continued, is “the result of a working group in which not only various ministries of the La Rioja government have participated, but also many civil society organizations.”
“We have introduced their proposals into this agenda, which contains various axes and strategies on which to work to consolidate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030”, stressed Romero, who highlighted the work carried out by the Ministry to “make development cooperation and consolidate sustainability strategies”.
He stressed that this work is in addition to the Bill for the Effective Equality of Women and Men of La Rioja, which, he said, “will be approved in plenary session of the La Rioja Parliament in two weeks.” EFE
