Mexico City (EFE).- The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) raised the interest rate by 25 base points to 11.25%, the highest level in its history, which represents the fifteenth consecutive increase given the highest inflation high in two decades.
“With this action, the rate of increases is reduced and the monetary policy stance adjusts to the trajectory required for inflation to converge to its target of 3% within the forecast horizon,” the central bank said in the announcement. .
The 25-point hike, the first at this level after two consecutive increases of 50 points and four of 75 points, was unanimously approved and coincided with the 25-point increase announced by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) last week. .
