Gijón (EFE).- The Port of Gijón received on Wednesday the first cruise ship of the season, the Aida Aura, a 203-meter-long ship with 981 passengers on board, mainly Germans, and 418 crew members.
The ship, coming from Vigo and bound for Dover (England), has arrived in Gijón at around 9:00 am.
Passengers have had a tourist information stand on the same dock and a bus service to the city center.
Passengers will have the option of visiting Oviedo, Gijón, Avilés and the Covadonga Lakes if they opt for any of the excursions proposed for the stopover.
The Aida Aura, which began the journey in Tenerife, has passed through Lisbon, Porto and Vigo, and after stopping in Gijón it will head to Dover to end the route in Hamburg (Germany).
The Port of Gijón expects to receive 30 passenger ships this year, compared to 28 last year, which represented the arrival of more than 24,000 tourists. EFE
