Castellón, Mar 29 (EFE) hours of meteorological truce, as the forecast warns of strong gusts of west wind and a sharp drop in humidity starting this Thursday.
The regional secretary for Security and Emergencies, José María Ángel, reported late in the afternoon that it is feared that these gusts of west could produce outbreaks with the “chimney effect”, which generates rapid propagation and large columns of smoke that would reach heights very high.
Therefore, tonight some 350 people will work around the perimeter of the fire -which exceeds 50 kilometers-, awaiting the incorporation tomorrow at dawn of 16 aerial means to discharge water and retardant.
Although in the last hours some 200 residents who had been evicted from Villanueva de Viver, Puebla de Arenoso and its districts of Los Cantos and La Monzona, Higueras and Pavías have begun to return to their homes, there are still hundreds of displaced people, 43 of them which remain in the spaces enabled in Segorbe.
The return of this group of neighbors has been coordinated by the Civil Guard in a caravan, although expert work has previously been carried out to verify that these urban centers had water, electricity and habitable conditions.
The last meeting of the coordination post this afternoon was chaired by the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, who congratulated all those responsible for the bodies that work on extinction and has promised to telephone the presidents of the regions who have sent media.
The sources of most concern are the same as in the last few hours, that is, the one located between Montán and Montanejos and the one in Fuente la Reina.
“Tomorrow we will have a very complex day, with a west wind that will leave gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour and relative humidity below 20%. That means extreme risk, and it will probably be necessary to reinforce all the great work done today”, pointed out José María Ángel, who warned that it is still early to determine when the rest of the displaced residents will be able to return to their homes.
