Castellón (EFE).- The weather has been favorable this morning for the ground teams to extinguish the Castellón fire, which is facing its sixth day still uncontrolled and which forced the evacuation of three more towns yesterday Monday due to the proximity of the flames, fanned by the strong west wind.
According to the early morning balance of the Valencian Generalitat Emergencies, the director of the Advanced Command Post (PMA) located in Barracas reports that there have been no notable incidents overnight and that the weather conditions have helped the execution of the maneuvers of the ground operations.
The fire that broke out this Monday in the Montán area (in the southern part) is being monitored with a drone from the Military Emergency Unit (UME) to contain its advance, while maneuvers have also been carried out in the Fuente la Reina sector to defend the flank, which presents areas difficult to access by land resources.
During this Tuesday, work will continue “in the defense of the evicted populations and in the protection of life and property of the people”, according to Emergencies, with all available land resources and the entry, at dawn, of twenty-three air resources.
Until now, the evicted municipalities are those of Fuente de la Reina, Puebla de Arenoso, La Monzona, Montanejos, Montán and Arañuel, Higueras, Pavías and Torralba, and the districts, Los Calpes, Los Cantos, La Monzona, La Alquería de Montanejos and La Artejuela and Villanueva de Viver.
The fire declared on Thursday afternoon in Villanueva de Viver has so far devastated some 4,300 hectares and affects a perimeter of approximately 50 kilometers.
