Zaragoza (EFE).- The latest graphic work by Antonio López, with 17 hitherto unpublished engravings related to Madrid’s Gran Vía and floral motifs, will be exhibited in the Ignacio Zuloaga room in Fuendetodos (Zaragoza) from March 30, day of the 277th birthday of Francisco de Goya.
Organized by the Goya-Fuendetodos Cultural Consortium of the Zaragoza Provincial Council, the exhibition can be visited in September and commemorates this birthday in a space located “wall to wall” with the house where the Aragonese painter was born, according to the deputy for Culture, Ros Cihuelo.
Antonio Lopez. Graphic work”
Antonio Lopez. Graphic work” brings together a total of 38 recent prints, the last one signed last week, “between state tests and preparatory drawings for the geometric composition,” according to the president of the Consortium, Ricardo Centellas.
The exhibition represents an “extraordinary opportunity” to see the latest and unpublished graphic work of Antonio López, an exponent of Spanish realistic painting and internationally recognized, “who has not lavished himself on engraving” although he has resumed this technique between 2020 and 2023.
With this exhibition, in the words of Cihuelo, excellence is maintained with the programming organized in Fuendetodos on the occasion of Goya’s anniversary in a “continuous commitment and visibility of his figure”.
Thirteen prints with floral motifs created during the confinement by the covid and another four that follow the theme of the urban landscape and capture views of the Gran Vía in Madrid, are presented in Fuendetodos along with tracings intended for the execution of the etchings.
Centellas has praised the “physical and mental lucidity” of the 87-year-old artist from La Mancha, whose main production is painting and sculpture and who has among his many awards and nominations the Gold Medal of Fine Arts in 1983 and the Prince of Asturias of the Arts of 1985.
Fuendetodos celebrates Goya’s 277th birthday
In addition to the exhibition, the Fuendetodos City Council joins the celebration of the 277th anniversary of Goya’s birth this Saturday with a “street scape” for the little ones in the house to discover the secrets and mysteries that the town hides, a soft drink ” 18th century style” and a gathering around Goya’s letters to Martín Zapater. There will also be a recital, “Goya, that nice man, artist and soldier”, by Ars Symphony productions.
In this school year, 3,400 young people will complete training on engraving in Fuendetodos, 1,100 of them French, as highlighted by the mayor, Enrique Salueña.
