Logroño, (EFE).- The Association of Guidance Professionals in La Rioja (APOLAR) demands that emotional education be part of the school curriculum, since it maintains that “it is important that students learn mathematics and language, but also to deal with to the challenges that life entails”, its vice president, Graciela Remesal, told EFE.
More than 150 guidance professionals from La Rioja have participated in the first meeting of Educational Guidance in La Rioja, held in Logroño.
Remesal explained that on this day they will discuss topics such as “educational inclusion, the detection of suicidal behavior among students, the emotional well-being of students and other issues that concern the entire educational community.”
He has indicated that, at present, “the need to work on the whole part of emotional education in students is very much in vogue”, but, “always, one of the parts of guidance is accompaniment, support and training, which is a requirement, right now, more pressing”.
“The students and families who have to go through the guidance teams know us better and know about our work, which is sometimes a bit unknown, although not in schools, where we are a recognized figure to the public. that the support we give is taken into account and valued”, he highlighted.
For this reason, it has continued, APOLAR, which has a hundred associates, organizes this meeting with the aim of visualizing the work of educational guidance that is carried out in all the educational centers of La Rioja and is part of all the areas that involve the school.

“We are all enriched by the work of one another because, in our profession, working in a network is fundamental, since we cover many and very complex points. Training each other is essential, and this meeting seemed like a good showcase to publicize our work”, he has influenced.
Remesal has specified that this initiative will “reflect on the current situation of educational guidance” through the functions performed by the counselors and the different spaces, whether they are Early Childhood and Primary Education centers, Secondary schools or early care teams .
Projects that are currently being developed in some La Rioja schools will also be presented, such as one that consists of “working on everything related to the training of cognitive processes and executive functions through board games”, highlighted this professional .
He explained that, during this meeting, the participants will be explained how the protocols are applied to detect students with high abilities and with learning disorders such as dyslexia, which are documents that have been developed by the educational and psycho-pedagogical guidance teams of La Rioja. .
