Seville, (EFE).- Andalusia began 2023 with 1,273 calls to the 016 telephone number for information and attention against sexist violence (violence), 18% more than in December 2022, and registered 55 new cases per day, “exorbitant” figures and unacceptable.”
The number of calls from the free telephone number 016 during January represents a growth of 18% compared to the previous month, according to the statistical report prepared by the Coordination Unit against Gender Violence of the Government Delegation in Andalusia corresponding to January 2023.
016 works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provides victims, relatives and those around cases of sexist violence with a telephone service for information, legal advice and immediate psychosocial care by specialized personnel for all forms of violence against women.
This action is also carried out through WhatsApp 600 000 016 and email [email protected].
In the first 31 days of the year, Andalusia has suffered three cases of sexist violence registered in the Comprehensive Monitoring System for Gender Violence Cases, which records 20,700 active cases.
Bracelets and Atenpro service
“A figure that is still exorbitant because it is unacceptable in a country like ours, advanced, democratic, egalitarian, where any type of violence against women must be identified and condemned to root out a social problem, a scourge that only takes us back. a pre-democratic way of understanding life”, pointed out the Government delegate in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández.
Fernández has pointed out that the daily average of registrations in VioGén in January was 55 cases per day, a reality for which he has asked to join efforts.
