Logroño, (EFE).- The 7th World Conference on Wine Tourism of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will be held on November 23 and 24 in La Rioja, the president of the La Rioja Government, Concha Andreu, announced this Friday .
Andreu has made this announcement at the institutional opening of the “Meeting on Talent in Wine Tourism. Towards the 7th UNWTO World Wine Tourism Conference”, which has brought together twenty experts from wine regions of Europe, Africa and South America in Haro, to address the situation and future of wine tourism training.
The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosana Morillo, and Isabel Olivier, from the cabinet of the UNWTO General Secretariat, have also participated in the inauguration, the Government of La Rioja reported in a note.
The president explained that this Conference, which is being held in Spain for the first time, will be “the opportunity to show the world the heritage, tradition, landscapes and resources” of La Rioja and, furthermore, “the commitment to the future that the sector is doing to reinvent itself and be more competitive, more sustainable, more innovative and more digital”.
The Secretary of State for Tourism has pointed out “the permanent and unwavering commitment of La Rioja to continue being the flag bearer of the vanguard of wine tourism at the national and international level”.
He also explained that “wine tourism must lead a positive change, create employment and opportunities in the most depopulated areas, promote economic growth and preserve the natural and cultural environment.”
He has also said that this World Conference will be “a crucial opportunity for the world of wine to reflect on the prospects and challenges that this type of tourism will face.” EFE
