Oviedo (EFE).- The National Police have arrested six minors in Oviedo who were part of the leadership of a violent gang that committed thefts, assaults and acts of vandalism.
The gang, which would be made up of about 30 young people, calls itself “GAK” or “Gangasita” and used gestures typical of Latino gangs to instill fear in youth environments, the Asturias Police Headquarters reported this Friday.
According to the investigators, it is a hierarchical and structured group that would have become established over time, and that is dedicated to threatening, assaulting and robbing other young people.
In 2021 it was still a volatile group made up of young people who were still unimputable, but currently the group would be made up of approximately 30 young people, mostly Spanish, who communicate and organize through social networks.
The detainees, considered to be those responsible for the gang, have been released with charges according to the request of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office of the Superior Court of Justice of Asturias, who hears the case.
According to the National Police, with this operation “the dismantling of a violent youth group” that “was in the growth and settlement phase” has been achieved.
The operation, carried out within the “Police action and coordination plan against violent youth groups” of the Secretary of State for Security, has been carried out by the Asturias Provincial Information Brigade, in coordination with the General Information Commissioner , under the direction of the Oviedo Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
