Berlin (EFE).- Bayern Munich and the Allianz consortium extended their sponsorship contract – which includes the use of the insurer’s name for the stadium – until 2033, the German club reported on Tuesday.
The statement did not give concrete figures on the amount of the agreement, but it is said that Bayern will receive more money than before.
“FC Bayern attaches importance to continuity, which is why we are happy to extend our cooperation with Allianz,” said the president of the Board of Directors, Oliver Kahn, who was quoted in the statement.
“We have a common 20-year success story to which we want to add a new chapter,” he added.
Allianz, which is based in Munich, is one of the largest insurers in the world and since 2005 has given its name to Bayern’s stadium, the Allianz Arena.
In addition, Allianz has had an 8.33 percent stake in the Bayern Stock Company (Bayern AG) for nine years, the same as the car manufacturer Audi and the Adidas sporting goods consortium.
The remaining 75 percent is owned by the club, which, according to the statutes, must hold at least 70 percent of the shares.
“Allianz is a company that operates all over the world and everywhere its name is associated with our stadium,” Bayern marketing director Andreas Jung said.
“In the future we will expand our cooperation with projects with our women’s team and with the youth academy,” he added.
