Las Rozas (Madrid) (EFE).- Luis Rubiales, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), defended the semi-automatic offside that is already used in the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey final, and He urged LaLiga and the clubs to “ask” that it be implemented in the domestic competition to approve it.
After the controversy unleashed by the position of Marco Asensio in the disallowed goal in the Camp Nou classic and the VAR decision, the RFEF president proposed a system that is already used in Spanish football.
“The Federation, both in the Super Cup and in the Copa del Rey final, already uses this system, which was offered to LaLiga from the outset and it is the clubs and LaLiga that have to ask us for it. As soon as they ask for it, it will be implemented, ”he said at the presentation of a new advertising agreement for the Spanish team.
Rubiales asked for greater respect for the arbitration body. “It is a question that the clubs have to want and we are delighted. From there the system is what it is and among all of us we have to reinforce confidence in the system”.
“That the referees are going to referee with the logical tension of the matches but no more, because it is part of our responsibility that the referees are only referees”, he sentenced.
