The Norwegian star has not been able to recover from some pain in the pubic area that he suffered after last weekend’s match against Burnley.
“We expected it to be just a nuisance that would happen on Saturday, but after testing him yesterday it became clear that he won’t be around for the matches against Spain and Georgia. The best thing is for him to continue treatment at his club,” Norwegian team doctor Ola Sand said in a statement.
Haaland took it “badly” when he realized that he could not help the team, highlights the Norwegian coach, Ståle Solbakken.
“Luckily we continue to have a lot of confidence, talent and unity in this group to win points in the next games,” said Solbakken.
Spain and Norway will open the first day of group A in Malaga on the 25th, and the Nordic team will play Georgia three days later at home in Batumi.
