Madrid (EFE) Ramón Tamames as candidate instead of Santiago Abascal.
The choice of the veteran economist has not served to gather the support of the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who will abstain, unlike what the popular did in October 2020 with Pablo Casado, so the motion will only count again with the 52 votes in favor of the Vox deputies, far from the 176 essential to prosper.
Abascal and Tamames, without time limit
Starting at 9:00 a.m. and without a time limit, Abascal will go up to the rostrum to present the motion as a matter of extreme necessity for the country due to the “harmful” policies of the PSOE and Podemos government coalition and will again request to the PP to change the direction of the vote.
He will also defend that, despite the manifest discrepancies with the candidate, both agree that Sánchez must be censured and expelled from La Moncloa.
This is what Tamames will ask for in his speech, which will also follow Abascal’s without a time limit, but unlike him, he will not go up to the rostrum due to his mobility problems due to his advanced age.
The 89-year-old candidate will occupy the usual seat of the Vox leader and, from there, will offer his diagnosis of the country and will expose as the only point of his government program: the dissolution of the Cortes and the immediate call of general elections to make them coincide with the regional and municipal ones on May 28.
In previous motions, the President of the Government intervened in third place after listening to the candidate, although he can do so by regulation when he deems appropriate.
Replies and counter-replies
This will open the rounds of replies and counter-replies, as many as are considered necessary, and once finished, the president of the Congress, Meritxell Batet, will order a recess.
In the resumption, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the turn of the spokespersons of the groups from lowest to highest will begin, beginning with the mixed group, for a maximum time of 30 minutes each.
As in the first round of interventions, the candidate may respond to them as a block or one by one.
On Wednesday, the rest of the parliamentary groups will take the floor before the vote, by call and by voice based on some randomly chosen surnames, which will probably be held late in the morning, when what will be the sixth motion of censure of democracy.
In 2018 the one presented by Pedro Sánchez against the popular Mariano Rajoy was held, the only one that has prospered.
