Oviedo (EFE).- The Principality’s Health Service (Sespa) has incorporated 69 specialists in Family and Community Medicine into the Primary Care network with the campaign to attract health workers from outside Asturias launched last year and which will return to start this exercise.
This was pointed out this Monday by the Minister of Health, Pablo Fernández, in commission of the General Meeting, where he explained that these doctors, never before linked to Sespa, have joined the Principality with a “stable character” since the start of the campaign , at the end of April last year.
In response to a question from the Citizens deputy, Luis Carlos Fanjul, the counselor has advanced that a new campaign will be launched “soon” that he hopes “will be well received.”
Fernández has valued this measure given the shortage of professionals in the Primary network, a point at which he stressed that other actions such as improving working conditions have also been promoted.
In his opinion, these types of appeals are “very accurate” to alleviate the lack of specialists, compared to the “privatization” option of other communities.
In the opinion of the deputy from the orange formation, if all the territories bet on this type of measure, it will seem like a “Persian market” that “leads nowhere”.
New guard system
Fanjul has also referred in the commission to the agreement between Sespa and the union organizations for the reorganization of extra-hospital emergencies and has warned that it is creating a “division” among the toilets, in reference to the complaints of the members of the Platform of Family Physicians.
The counselor has stressed that it will serve to “reinforce” the Primary network “in all its dimensions”, through the “definition” of the work and attributions of the health workers with a “more appropriate distribution of the activity” and with “the guarantee of an equitable model for new professionals who are interested in working in Asturias”.
After emphasizing that the agreement has been signed by 83 percent of the workers, he has ensured that this will improve the working conditions of doctors and nurses who are on duty, with the aim of “guaranteeing continuity of care.”
“Basing this organization on having family doctors and nurses who are only eligible for temporary appointments would mean the paralyzation of this benefit due to its impossibility,” he added.
At the same time, he stressed that the Asturian Government will continue to “advance and dialogue” with the social agents in the search for improvements.
New professional categories
In response to a question from the Podemos deputy Daniel Ripa, the counselor indicated that the new health professional categories are still “in process.”
In this way, it has added that the category of auxiliary pharmacy technician and specialist in health documentation are in a phase of “economic assessment”, while that of specialist nurse is in “administrative procedures that allow its conclusion”, after having approved the decree by the general negotiating table.
In the case of the IT category, the “previous” study is advancing and has been included in this year’s regulatory plan. EFE
