Arnedo, (EFE).- After nearly fifteen years managing festivities throughout the Spanish geography, the Aragonese Ignacio Ríos repeats in the management of the Arnedo bullring, the Arnedo Arena, which he defines as “a bullfighting benchmark”.
This is how he explains it in an interview with EFE during an intense bullfighting weekend in the final of the XX Silver Shoe and the Urdiales-Roca Rey one-on-one on March 18 and 19, respectively.
“That the Arnedo bullring was a bullfighting benchmark at the beginning of the season was a challenge that I set myself when I started this management. Seeing that little by little, with a lot of effort, the fans are responding makes me continue to be tremendously excited”, he declared.
He explained that “when I started this administration in 2019, the situation was quite confusing; It was not easy to embark on such a project. I proposed it as a challenge that required imagination and a lot of effort. Through the pandemic the pandemic crossed, everything stopped and arrests had to be added. Today, fortunately, everything seems redirected”.
Asked about the acceptance that the poster of Sunday 19 – hand in hand Diego Urdiales – Roca Rey – has had, Ríos is satisfied.
Announcing figures has its complications; any businessman likes to give out “flashy” posters and when it is achieved it is something “that fills you up”. It is not easy, that is only possible if you have previously earned the respect and trust of those same figures, he has detailed.
The Aragonese businessman specifies that now it continues to be more “positive” to give more quality than quantity. Working the towns, being seen, stepping on the ground, involving the fan and those who are not so much to propose not only bullfights that are very relevant, but other festivities, called minor, such as the bullfights, is something fundamental , ha
explained.
In this sense, Ríos has defined Arnedo as an “emblematic” place. The tradition of the bullfights with the Golden Shoe contest, as well as the twenty editions of the Silver Shoe, speak volumes about the “roots” that the novilleril ranks have in this bullring.
Another factor that Ríos describes as very positive in the fans of Arneda is the “commitment” of the young public. Seeing the generational change is something that “encourages” me to think about new projects related to bullfighting wherever possible, since that is where the figures of the future will come from, he stated.
Regarding his expectations for this season that has just started, Ríos has the “transcendental” objective of maintaining what has already been achieved and trying to ensure that the public that comes and populates the stands leaves happy.
In the bullfighting environment, things change from one day to the next and one does not know if it will change for the better or for the worse. Hence, above all, you have to be “persevering” and without letting your guard down, also be “very patient”, he has detailed.
