Pamplona (EFE).- The spokesman for Podemos, Pablo Fernández, has given as an example the coalition in which Podemos is integrated in Navarra together with Izquierda Unida, Batzarre and Independientes, for a future pact at the national level with Sumar.
Fernández has addressed the media before participating in an act of his party in Pamplona together with the coordinator of the purple formation in the Foral Community, Begoña Alfaro.
Regarding the Contigo Navarra – Zurekin Nafarroa coalition, Fernández explained that “it shows how Podemos builds by expanding the electoral space.” “Our idea from the origins of Podemos we have always shown to be a formation that unites strength and widens the space. We want an electoral coalition with Sumar, we are clear that the unity of the left is essential to reissue a government of progress ”, he added.
Along the same lines, he has highlighted the work of Podemos in the Government of Navarra as an “example and guide” for what the party wants to implement throughout the State. “Pioneering advances are being made that we want to transfer to Spain,” he pointed out.
“We want to reissue a progressive government and at a national level we also risk a lot because we see how the PSOE looks more and more to the right, we have verified it with the Gag Law, with the law of only yes is yes or when it blocks the Housing law in The congress. If we want to reissue the government, it is urgent that the PSOE understand that it has to look to the left”, the spokesman stated.
Coalition to “increase representativeness”
Begoña Alfaro, for her part, has been convinced that, through Contigo Navarra, they will “increase representation”. “I don’t really like to give numbers, but the goal is everything. Contigo Navarra is a project for the medium-long term, we have just been born and we are going to grow for sure in the next decade”, she added.
He has also valued the work of the legislature: “Despite having been a minority partner, we have to value the initiatives that respond solely to our presence in the Government. We have examples such as the pioneering law on abuses within the Church, the law on restorative justice and mediation, the law against racism and xenophobia… these are examples of our role, despite having only two parliamentarians out of 50 and sharing space with two less ambitious partners than us”.
