Málaga, (EFE).- The Málaga Tech Park is home to a total of 653 companies, of which 66 are foreign and come from twenty-one different countries, and closed last year with an increase in employment of 9.7 percent. percent compared to 2021, until reaching 24,396 workers.
Of this figure, 54 percent are men and 46 percent women, and the number of employees dedicated to Research and Development in 2022 is 2,790, 24.61 percent more than the previous year, reported this Sunday the Malaga Tech Park in a statement.
Among the most recent additions are the DayOne center of La Caixa, Aire Networks, the Cybersecurity Global Hub of Babel, the Diagnostic Hub of Grupo Echevarne, FEV (Germany), the Specialized Center for Cyberdefense and Cloud Capgemini (France), Málaga Excellence Technology EY (United Kingdom), Quantexa (United Kingdom) or the Innovation Hub Oracle (USA).
Billing has also registered a significant rise, since in 2022 it grew by 19.37 percent to 2,700 million euros, with which the total billing of the park since the beginning of its activity is 35,008 million euros.
More than 3.5 million benefit
The Information Technology sector (Electronics, Information, Computing and Telecommunications) continues to be the most prominent in the park and encompasses practically 33 percent of companies, 57 percent of employment and 48 percent of turnover overall 2022.
In the 2022 financial year, the company has obtained a profit, after taxes, of 3.7 million euros, compared to the 662,000 euros of profit obtained in 2021.
These data were presented in the last board of directors of Málaga Tech Park, in which the Minister of Economy, Finance and European Funds, Carolina España, highlighted that the park “has turned Málaga into a fundamental European focus of technological attraction” when three decades have passed since its launch.
The total investment in the 2022 financial year has reached the figure of 25.6 million euros, which represents an increase of 40 percent compared to the previous year.
The growth of private investment stands out, which has increased by 60 percent, reaching 21.6 million euros, which represents 85 percent of the total investment in the year 2022, while public investment is four million euros. euro.
The Rosalind building
The total investment made in Málaga Tech Park since its inception, for the construction of the park itself and its buildings, as well as the necessary equipment to develop the projects of the companies and institutions installed in it, has been 954.6 millions of euros.
Of these, 80 percent (762 million) correspond to private investment and the remaining 20 percent to public initiative (192.6 million euros).
The investment in R&D made in 2022 by the companies and institutions installed rises to 155 million euros, which represents an increase of 62.86 percent compared to the previous year.
Regarding the real estate investment undertaken by Málaga Tech Park, the completion of the Rosalind building stands out, which will provide it with 3,700 square meters of high-quality offices. EFE
