Madrid (EFE).- The Ministry of Health and the strike committee of family doctors and pediatricians of Madrid Primary Care have reached this Wednesday “a verbal pre-agreement” in the fourteenth negotiating meeting, which tonight will be submitted for consideration of those affected by electronic means.
Out of respect for those affected by the strike, they will be the first to know what has been discussed and progressed in the meeting, indicated the general secretary of Amyts, Ángela Hernández, at the end of the meeting, which lasted approximately three hours.
In the event that the pre-agreement is favorably received by doctors and paediatricians, the strike committee will have another afternoon meeting tomorrow, Thursday, with the Ministry of Health to profile, work and, in the case of that everything develops as planned, assess the signing of the agreement that would put an end to the strike that began on November 21 and was temporarily suspended during the Christmas holidays.
approach of postures
In statements to the media, Hernández explained that in the meeting there has been “a rapprochement of positions” between the Ministry of Health and the strike committee that has led to reaching “a verbal pre-agreement” that will be presented tonight at ten , electronically, to family doctors and paediatricians affected.
If the pre-agreement is accepted by them, the strike committee will work tomorrow, early in the afternoon, with the Department of Health, an agreement for a possible exit from the strike and if everything develops normally and ends in a signature it would mean “the resolution of the conflict”, explained the general secretary of Amyts.
“If we have reached a verbal pre-agreement, it is because as a strike committee it has seemed like a sufficient approach to raise it with our colleagues, something that had not happened in all the previous weeks,” Hernández acknowledged.
“We have never thought that a labor conflict of these characteristics would be the solution to the complicated situation in which Madrid Primary Care finds itself. We would settle for it being a change of course so that it stops deteriorating”, pointed out the general secretary of Amyts.
Monitoring commission
In the pre-agreement, he has detailed, a monitoring committee would have to work and other issues related to the implementation of the limitation of the demand for assistance, which will not be easy and will require a lot of work on the part of everyone, as well as “a adaptation” of the professionals because it implies a “very important” job change compared to what they have been doing for decades.
According to Hernández, there have been “assignments” by both parties and the Ministry of Health has contributed “more budget” than was initially available.
