Madrid (EFE).- The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has valued the “courage” of the professor and economist Ramón Tamames, for accepting a “patriotic challenge” in a media context of “harassment” and in which the objective is to change the course of Spain.
Abascal appears in Congress at a joint press conference with Tamames, his party’s candidate for the presidency of the Government in the motion of no confidence against Pedro Sánchez, and both have spoken of “shows of courage” before this motion that will be debated next week .
“We honestly believe that the figure of Mr. Ramón Tamames can represent all compatriots who want a change of course and with whom we perfectly embrace each other,” Abascal said despite the political differences they may have between them.
Abascal has stressed that the candidate has been subjected to “scrutiny” and “very severe judgment” over his entire life “of great political, academic and intellectual production.”
Tamames: “I feel comfortable in a motion that I share with Vox in its essentials”
The professor and economist, Ramón Tamames, Vox’s candidate for the presidency of the Government in the motion of no confidence against Pedro Sánchez, has stated that he feels “at ease” with an initiative in which “it coincides in its essentials and fundamentals” with the Vox ideology, especially in its attachment to the Spanish flag.
In a joint press conference with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, in Congress, a few days before the debate on the motion of no confidence in the plenary session of the Lower House, Tamames has said that he agrees with Vox in defending the Constitution, to the parliamentary monarchy and to the flag.
“The parliamentary monarchy is very important…because without a king it would be much more difficult…and it unites many peoples”, Tamames said after insisting that he respects the Spanish flag since his time as a communist deputy since “it is not the flag of Franco” but has always seen it as “the flag of Carlos III, who represents Spain in its universal history”.
“There are some who want to break Spain and leave and we agree (with Vox) on this. We are delighted to be in Spain and that she is a true mother to everyone”, she reiterated.
Abascal, for his part, has highlighted the courage of Tamames in the face of this “patriotic challenge” and has stressed the need to bring forward general elections before December to change his course.
Despite the fact that the motion of censure does not seem to prosper next week and the PP has announced that it will abstain, Abascal does not renounce that the popular ones can change the direction of the vote.
