Santa Cruz de Tenerife (EFE).- The intermediary that gives its name to the Mediator case, Marco Antonio Navarro Tacoronte, stated this Wednesday that the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín (PSOE), charged a commission for contracts awarded from the area of Sports and has assured that both have met to talk about “dealing”.
Navarro Tacoronte has made these statements in statements to journalists after leaving the Cabildo de Tenerife, where he went to witness the extraordinary plenary session in which the island corporation has debated the repercussions of the case in the institution.
The intermediary, who is one of the twelve defendants in the alleged corruption plot and has in his record several convictions for fraud, theft and document falsification, has described the plenary session as “shameful” because he hoped that Martín would “finally recognize the truth”. , which according to his version is that both have had meetings and that he has known him “since 2015 or 2016”, when the current island president was mayor of Guía de Isora.
“And he continues to deny it” despite the fact that there is “a video”, he added.
The mediator: Pedro Martín “lies, lies and lies”
Navarro Tacoronte has reiterated that Pedro Martín “lies, lies and lies” because, in his opinion, he met with him to inform him of everything that was happening “and he already knew about the Mediator case.”
Asked about when he met, according to his version, with the president of the Tenerife Cabildo, he indicated that it was “before the complaint” that the then island director of Sports, Ángel Pérez (PSOE), filed against him for fraud.
He has maintained that in said meeting he spoke with Pedro Martín “about a deal that was going to be done with a mobility plan in Güímar”, about which he avoided giving more details “because that is going to come out now” in the judicial procedure.
Navarro Tacoronte has indicated that Pedro Martín told him that he was going to take action immediately and what he did, a year later, was to dismiss Ángel Pérez.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife knew “everything”
Asked if Pedro Martín knew the ins and outs of the Mediator case, he asserted that he knew “everything”, not only “the case of Ángel Pérez”, and he said that in his first year as insular director of Sports there is a company “that It is repeated about six times.
That company “was part of our group, so to speak,” has continued, and there are three contracts awarded by Ángel Pérez and authorized by Pedro Martín, not by the Sports Minister (Concepción Rivero), whom Navarro Tacoronte said he did not know.
Regarding whether there was a commission for those contracts, Marco Antonio Navarro Tacoronte has affirmed that yes, but that they kept it “Ángel Pérez and Pedro, how much money I don’t know”, to ensure that the question that must be asked is “how much did you take , Pedro?”.
Regarding Pedro Martín’s intervention in plenary, he stated that it would be “ashamed” to appoint the president of the PP of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, as the president of the Cabildo did in the session, when Pedro Martín is “the one who has sat down more with me and talked about dealings with me ”.
“Manolo has not talked about dealings with me, but this one has,” he added.
