Haría (Lanzarote) (EFE).- The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, today avoided revealing the Executive’s parliamentary strategy for next week’s motion of no confidence, but he did take the opportunity to thank the good tone of the person who will be the protagonist of the session, Ramón Tamames, and to ensure that they will have “an interesting parliamentary debate”.
In an appearance before the media after the 34th Spanish-Portuguese summit and asked about the United We Can proposal for the women of his cabinet to intervene during the debate to “protect” the president from a “fake” motion, Sánchez did not want to answer who will speak during the plenary session, in which the motion of censure presented by Vox will be debated.
He did want, however, to highlight the “good tone” of the Tamames candidate.
The remodeling of the Government will be after Vox’s motion of no confidence
The President of the Government has also announced that the announced remodeling of his cabinet will be limited to replacing the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, and of Industry, Reyes Maroto, and that these changes will not take place until after Vox’s motion of no confidence.
To questions from journalists at the press conference after the Spanish-Portuguese summit that was held in Lanzarote and in the presence of the Portuguese Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, Sánchez confirmed that this remodeling will be limited and will not be before the motion of no confidence presented by Vox and whose debate and vote will end next Wednesday, March 22.
“I’ll keep you awake, I’ll give you a headline, that the government crisis will be after the motion of censure”, the president replied between smiles among the attendees.
Sánchez took the opportunity to thank the “extraordinary work” of both ministers whom he has said, “he is going to miss” and whom he has wished “all the luck in the world” as PSOE candidates in the next municipal elections on 28 May.
Darias will be the socialist candidate for mayor of Las Palmas and Maroto will be the headliner for the Madrid City Council.
Sánchez sees an electoral calculation in ERC and Bildu by knocking down changes in the gag law
Sánchez has also accused ERC and EH Bildu of knocking down the reform of the Citizen Security Law due to electoral calculation, and has considered that with this decision both “have erred”.
“There is something even worse than making calculations, which is making mistakes in the calculation,” said the president in his appearance before the media after the Spanish-Portuguese summit.
Sánchez pointed out that the agreement that had been reached between the PSOE and Unidas Podemos put an end to all those articles that were identified with the aforementioned law, known as the gag law, and recalled that the initiative for the reform of the norm was presented by the PNV.
