Previously, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, had asked the Preliminary Questions Chamber for authorization to continue the investigation into alleged crimes against humanity committed in the country, after it was suspended at the request of the State. This position was rejected by the Executive on November 5, stating that “extensive and sufficient information has been provided that demonstrates how, through the competent institutions, the country is investigating or has investigated alleged punishable acts against human rights ”.
