Castelló (EFE) of the province and announces a week full of events.
With temperatures that will exceed 25 degrees for a good part of the day, the streets of Castelló have already filled with people to celebrate the start of its big week.
From San Roque street (Forn del Plà), the procession will go through Sanahuja streets, María Agustina square, Mayor street, Gasset street, Puerta del Sol and Ruiz Zorrilla street and will end at Rey don Jaime avenue.
Vicente Sorlí will be the “crier”
The parade takes its name from the set of verses that are repeated along the route and the “trumpeter” this year will be incarnated by Vicente Sorlí Clemente, who must “sing” the verses of the famous poet from Castelló Bernat Artola i Tomás, announcing the party all over the city, as he parades on horseback through the crowded streets. He will invite, on behalf of the mayoress, Amparo Marco, to participate to neighbors and visitors to participate in the Fiestas de la Magdalena.
The Colla de Dolçainers i Tabaleters de Castelló will open the entourage, to give way, all followed by the mythological part of the Pregó with the Colla del Rei Barbut in charge of recreating the characters from the book “Tombatossals”, by José Pascual Tirado.
The King Barbut will return to the streets of Castelló with his children Case, Tahor and the Infantona Merilde, accompanied by the giant Tombatossals, born from the collapse of two mountains, Penyeta Roja and Tossal Gros -his parents- and who, known for his character he formed a group with Bufanúvols, Arrancapins and Tragapinyols, who will also accompany him on the parade.

After the mythological part, it will be the turn of the founding history of the city headed by the Moros d’Alqueria association with its “filaes” with colorful costumes to remember the troops of the armies that conquered the Valencian lands and the L’Aljama y Els association Knights of the Conquest.
Els Cavallers will have the central figure of King Jaume I, who will read at different points, the privilege of transfer of the city of Castelló from above, in the hermitage, to the plane. Along with them also paraded the second wife of Jaume I, Na Violant d’Hongria, incarnated this year by Carla Sánchez, and accompanied in her carriage by her Dones de Companya.
This foundation block will be completed with the parade of other associations such as the Knights Templars, L’Host del Castell Vell, the Aragonese Center, the Barbarian Pirates of the Colla Bacalao and the Echos of Aragon association.
Towns of the province
The third block will give way to the towns of the province, which will parade grouped in different counties and which this year will have representation from municipalities of the Plana Alta such as Benicàssim, Torreblanca, Almassora, Cabanes, La Torre d’En Doménech, Borriol, Benlloch, Vilanova d’Alcolea, Vilafamés, Sant Joan de Moró and Orpesa.
Almenara, Tales, Suera, La Vall d’Uixò, Moncofa, Ribesalbes, La LLosa, Nules, Borriana and Vila-real will parade from the region of La Plana Baixa and from L’Alcalatén will come Lucena, Costur, L’Alcora and Vistabella,
Benassal, Alcalà-Alcossebre, Peñíscola, Xert, Vinaròs, Villahermosa del Río and Santa Magdalena de Pulpis will be present from Maestrat; from Al Millars and Els Ports will come Montanejos and Todolella and from Alt Palancia Navajas, Soneja, Pina de Montalgrao, Viver and Segorbe.
The towns will display a range of traditions, local gastronomy, crafts and unique folklore, in addition to their typical costumes.
Closing of the Pregó
And as is tradition, there are many associations, entities and schools in the city of Castelló that will close the Pregó, such as the Municipal School of Dolçaina or the dance groups, who will delight in the traditional Valencian “dansà” as they pass by as the Group of Dance Els Fadrins de la Censal, the dance groups Illes Columbretes, Ramell, Escola de Dansa, El Forcat or Ramell.
After them they will take and commissions of sectors of Gaiatas dressed in the typical costume of “castellonero” and “castellonera”, which will give way to the bugles that announce the arrival of the “pregoner”, recounting verses and announcing the start of eight festive days.
The queen of the festivities, Selene Tarín, and her six ladies close the parade of the Pregó, but the party will continue with concerts in groups and associations, DJs, brass bands and other recreational activities, as well as the ringing of the “María” bell at 8:00 p.m. in the Plaza Mayor announcing the eve of the Les Canyes Pilgrimage.
And the fireworks will be the protagonists of the Enfarolà del Fadrí, before the festive monument, the gaiata, leaves the stores at midnight, to settle in the street and decorate the districts of the city.
