Palma, Mar 11 (EFE).- The Spanish women’s futsal team was defeated 1-2 this Saturday against the Brazilian team in the second friendly match played this Saturday at the Son Moix Municipal Sports Center.
In the first, played on Friday in Calviá, Brazil also won 1-4.
Spain scheduled the two matches in preparation for the European semifinals that it will play next week against Portugal in the Hungarian city of Debrecen.
Brazil’s early goal (min. 5) punished Spain’s bad start on the Son Moix court. Errors in the passes, bad starts and deficient transitions facilitated the dominance of the South American players against a national team that did not feel comfortable.
The Spanish reaction became evident as the minutes passed. The changes ordered by the coach Claudia Pons had their effects and the tie was chanted by the public on numerous occasions.
Laura Córdoba smashed a shot off the post and María Sanz was also very close to leveling the score.
They were Spain’s best moments against their powerful rival, whom they were playing as equals, crowned with Tafy’s own goal.
The tie reflected what had happened in the first 20 minutes, which had a brilliant outcome with the spectacular Chilean Tafy in the local area. The action, which was not a goal when the ball hit a defense, was rewarded with applause by the spectators.
The second half also began with a Brazilian advantage after an own goal by Ale de Paz, who in his attempt to clear a cross put the ball into his own goal.
Spain launched itself in search of an equalizer, created chances, but Brazil did damage with counterattacks. The goal could fall from anywhere in a few minutes of high-altitude futsal, with two teams pressing and not giving up any ball.
Cris, the goalkeeper of the Spanish team, emerged as the great figure of her team, avoiding the away goal with interventions of great merit. The final minutes were hectic, with Spain playing with a goalkeeper-player, a role played by Ale de Paz, and cornering Brazil in their area in search of an equalizer that did not come.
Spain has played thirteen times against Brazil, with 5 wins and 8 losses.
