Washington (EFE).- The United States and the European Union (EU) have agreed to begin negotiating a trade pact that will ensure access for the two economies to key minerals used in the manufacture of electric vehicle batteries.
This was announced in statements to the press by the President of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, after meeting in the Oval Office of the White House with US President Joe Biden.
As indicated by Von der Leyen, the idea of the agreement is that European companies can access US subsidies included in the so-called Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), approved in the US last year. and that the European bloc rejected at first, considering it protectionist.
