Toledo (EFE).- Thousands of people have participated in the demonstrations that have been called in Castilla-La Mancha this March 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
They have walked the streets of the main cities of the region to demand equality between men and women.
The most popular demonstrations have been those that have taken place in Albacete, in which some 4,000 people have participated, according to sources from the Government Sub-delegation, and that of Guadalajara, in which there have been some 3,000 attendees.
Albacete: “All women, all rights, every day”
In Albacete, the march proceeded at the rhythm of a batucada, from Plaza Gabriel Lodares to El Altozano, headed by a banner bearing the slogan “All women, all rights, every day.”
Behind was the municipal spokesperson for Unidas Podemos, Nieves Navarro, while the representatives of the PSOE carried their own banner, with the slogan “Socialism is equality.”
The Government delegate in Castilla-La Mancha, Francisco Tierraseca, as well as the mayor of Albacete, Emilio Sáez, participated in the demonstration in Albacete; and the president of the Provincial Council Santiago Cabañero.
Guadalajara: “Precariousness has a woman’s face”
The unitary demonstration in Guadalajara has been organized by the Guadalajara 8M Commission, made up of the Guadalajara Feminist Network, the Guadalajara Feminist Platform, associations and independent individuals, joined by political parties such as Unidas Podemos and the PSOE with representatives of both formations present in the march.
After a banner with the slogan “Precariousness has a woman’s face”, the protesters have left the Plaza de Santo Domingo to tour the center of the city to the Palacio del Infantado.
The demonstrators have carried other banners with slogans such as “Feminism is abolitionist” or “Live, free and united for equality”, and have chanted slogans such as those related to the abolition of prostitution.

Toledo: “Down with patriarchy, up with feminism!”
In Toledo, hundreds of people have walked the streets of the historic center of the city, to demand another year of equality on International Women’s Day, in two demonstrations organized by the Local Women’s Council and the 8M Platform.
Shouting slogans like “Down with the patriarchy that is going to fall, up with feminism that is going to win!” or “Alone, drunk, I want to get home”, the demonstration of the Local Women’s Council, in which the mayoress of Toledo, Milagros Tolón, has participated, and which has been joined by the cleaners who are in the midst of a labor dispute, It has reached the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where the manifesto has been read.
On the other hand, the 8M Platform, whose header banner could read the slogan “All women All rights Every day”, has concluded in the Plaza de Zocodover, where it has read the manifesto with which it defends the rights ” conquered and to be achieved”, demands full equality of rights and living conditions for all women and demands “social and political justice for all”.

Cuenca: “Feminism or barbarism. Together, feminists”
In turn, in Cuenca the demonstration started at 6:00 p.m. from the city’s bullring, behind a banner with the slogan “Feminism or barbarism. 8M Cuenca, together, feminists’ and has concluded in the central Carretería street, at the Sánchez Vera intersection, an hour and a half later, with the participation of more than 500 people, according to the City Council.

Ciudad Real: symbolic burning of inequalities
And in Ciudad Real hundreds of people have gathered in the Plaza Mayor convened by the Assembly of Feminist Women, to symbolically burn inequalities and everything that oppresses them.
With this symbolic burning they wanted to demand equal rights between women and men and denounce the inequalities and violence that women still suffer in many areas of society and in all parts of the world.
The members of the Piedrabuena futsal team to which the young Belén PDC, 24, who was allegedly murdered at the hands of her husband in this municipality and who became the first victim of sexist violence, also participated in the rally. of 2023.
