Madrid/València (EFE) (67).
If we look at the rate of attacks per thousand registered doctors, in the Valencian Community it was 1.91, below the average (2.87) and the ninth lowest among the autonomous communities, according to data from the Observatory Against Aggressions spread this Thursday.
Those 56 attacks registered by the three medical associations of the Valencian Community represent 12% more than the previous year, according to the Valencia Medical Association (ICOMV), which indicates that in this province there were 25 attacks, four fewer than in 2021. , mostly to doctors (60%) and in primary care services (68%).
The main reason for the attacks was, in this order: discrepancies with medical care, time spent receiving care, poor functioning of the center, personal discrepancies, reports not in accordance with the patient’s claims, and not prescribing what the patient demanded.
More attacks on doctors than reported
The ICOMV affirms that there are “many more attacks than those reported” and announces that it will appear as a popular accusation for the attack on a private doctor, who received insults, threats and harassment on social networks against him and his family, and a person attacked in his office, now with a restraining order.
According to data from the Observatory, Catalonia was the community with the most reported cases of attacks on doctors in 2022, 380, with a rate of 7.95 per thousand registered professionals, compared to Navarra, with two attacks on doctors – the same as La Rioja – and the lowest rate of the 17 autonomies: 0.43.
Cantabria (7.56), Extremadura (5.33) and the Balearic Islands (3.15) are also above the average rate (2.87), as are Ceuta (8.22) and Melilla (6.19). , while Galicia (0.64), the Canary Islands (0.63) and the Basque Country (0.45), as well as Navarra, are below one.
“Most do not denounce”
Asked why these differences between one community and another, the general secretary of the General Council of Medical Colleges (CGCOM), José María Rodríguez, has pointed out that there are more complaints where there is better communication with medical colleges or with the police and has pointed out that This is just “the tip of the iceberg”, because most do not denounce.
In absolute figures, after Catalonia Andalusia appears prominent, with 117 attacks, ahead of Madrid (67), the Valencian Community (56), Castilla y León (36) and Extremadura (33).
Throughout Spain, attacks on the medical profession broke their record in 2022 with 843 reported cases, which means a doctor attacked every ten hours and 38% more than the previous year.
