The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, gave a dangerous somersault from a trampoline yesterday during the inauguration of a sports hall.
The mayor of Madrid, accompanied by the councilor for Sports, Sofía Miranda, and the councilor for San Blas-Canillejas, Martín Casariego, visited this Thursday the Municipal Sports Center of this Madrid district, a remodeled space that has a new pavilion for artistic gymnastics.
During the inauguration, a group of young people from the San Blas Gymnastics Club, accompanied by Diana Plaza (Olympian in Atlanta 96 and former student of this school) made an exhibition.
The athletes finally encouraged the mayor to try the mats and try to do a somersault, which ended with Almeida “flying” over the trampoline, as can be seen in a video released by the Madrid City Council.
Fortunately, he landed on a bed of foam blocks that avoided the hit. Almeida greeted the public and, after the incident, has kept his agenda during the day on Wednesday.
